Jeremiah Maiye, SEO manager

I started as a volunteer. Now I run search for a UK electronics store.

I taught myself SEO, asked to work for free so I could practise it, and kept showing up until the results spoke. This page tells that story and shows the proof.

How I got here

Nobody handed me this job. I went looking for it, and worked until it was mine.

  1. After college

I worked as a social media content planner for a non-governmental organisation in Nigeria. Planning content taught me how people look for things, and I noticed how much of it starts with a search. Organic search fascinated me, and I wanted to learn it properly.

  2. Volunteer

I applied to VOLTA Charger, a company founded in Australia and now based in the UK, as a volunteer. Nobody owed me a role, so I treated the volunteer work as my interview and put in the hours.

  3. Intern

The effort was noticed, and the volunteer role became an internship.

  4. SEO manager, January 2024

I now manage SEO for VOLTA, a UK-based electronics store, working from Nigeria. I own the blog and organic search, and I have grown into email and PR as well.

That is how I work anywhere: start before I am asked, learn what the job needs, then show results.

16+ months at number one
My comparison post on magnetic USB-C cables has held the top Google spot for more than 16 months. The next section shows what that did for AI search.
11 posts rebuilt around products
Each got fixed or new internal links into the matching cable, charger or power bank page, and several got a full content refresh.

Getting VOLTA recommended by AI

Magnetic cables are VOLTA’s core product, so I made one question my project: what is the best magnetic cable?

I wrote the comparison post, then built the strategy around it so AI tools had clear, trustworthy pages to quote. VOLTA’s AI mentions went from almost nothing to the numbers below, and when people ask AI for the best magnetic cable, VOLTA is now recommended first.

How I work

A repeatable loop, logged in a tracker so every change can be judged afterwards.

Find the near misses

I start in Search Console for pages with plenty of impressions and weak clicks. Those already rank, so a better promise often moves them faster than a new article would.

Rewrite the promise

Titles, H1s, meta descriptions and openings get rewritten to match what the searcher wants, then extended with new sections and FAQs where the answer is thin.

Connect to the shop

Blog readers rarely land on a product page by accident. I link from the answer to the product that solves it, using anchor text a reader would actually click.

Measure and keep the misses

Every edit records clicks, impressions and CTR before and after, then gets retested. Tests that fail stay in the log.

Selected tests from mid-2026

What I changed on a page and what Search Console showed afterwards. Bars compare clicks before and after.

Beyond the blog

Email

Since early 2025 I have helped run VOLTA’s email, from campaign copy to timing and testing.

PR and product seeding

I send products to influencers and blogs for honest reviews, which feeds both coverage and links.

Markets

I track US and UK demand separately and adapt wording, such as UK terms and airline rules, on the posts that rank there.

Product pages

I rewrote the meta descriptions on the four core product pages so each says what it does in plain terms.

Let’s work together

If you have pages that rank but do not earn clicks, or you want your brand recommended in AI answers, I would like to talk.
